Been a Fulham fan now for about 50 years, when my dad used to take me when I was about 7 years old. Been through a lot of good and bad times but no matter how bad thing got and there were some rough times Fulham has remained a part of my life and always will.
I’ve seen some great players over time including Johnny Haynes, George Cohen, Tony Macedo, Fred Callaghan, Steve Earle, Jimmy Conway, Rodney Marsh, Allan Clarke, Bobby Robson, Viv Busby, Gerry Peyton, Tony Gale, Teddy Maybank, Ray Houghton, Paul Parker, Ray Lewington, Saha, Sean Davis, Barry Hayles, Lee Clarke, Brian McBride, Clint Dempsey, Steed Malbranque, to name but a few.
I could fill the whole page with players that have given me pleasure over the years but the one that stands out for me is Gordon Davies (aka Ivor – hence my site name Ivorfan) he was a player that you felt would score every time he was on the pitch and dug us out of many a hole.
I remember the days when you could drive and park right outside the gate. The ground had no stand at the Putney end, no Riverside stand and that wind off the Thames cut through you.
I remember in the old second and third divisions games where we barely had 1500 supporters and you could sit on the terraces anywhere in the ground and still see the game clearly.
I remember in the dark days when the club nearly went out of existence and people were walking around the stands with buckets to throw your coins in to save the club.
I also remember the better days when Malcolm McDonald was our manager and we started to play better football.
I remember Tigana and his fabulous brand of football with Saha scoring for fun.
And recently I remember that brilliant run to the Europa cup final beating Juventus on the way, a night never to be forgotten.
Times have been tough over the last few seasons but I will always be a Fulham fan no matter what, nothing gives me better pleasure that watching Fulham football club ( apart from a good bottle of wine) combine the two and I am in heaven.
